My spring break in NYC was absolutely amazing. The people I spent it with were awesome (and continue to be) and there was a good mixture between fun and mission work.
We worked with this group YSOP (Youth Service Opportunity Project) helping the homeless and hungry in the city. We visited a different work site every day, anything from soup kitchens to a home for women coming out of incarceration to a place that offers free furniture for people coming out of homelessness. The whole experience was totally awesome. We spent the nights just exploring the city and doing anything anyone in the group wanted to. I'm now semi-fluent in navigating the subway.
On Friday, four of us drove (through the snow mind you) to Washington DC to participate in the Christian Peace Witness for Iraq, which was awesome. There was a service, and a march to the White House, and then an act of civil disobedience (though no one from our group risked arrest)
It was an amazing experience to see people connected like that, taking a stand for what they believe.
Pictures soon.
